My name is James I am from Utah. My first soap was olive oil soap. The first time I tried to make it I put too little lye in it. without knowing what to expect I mixed it for over an hour with no success. Then I retried the recepie. the second time I was successful. Ever since then I've been learning to perfect the basics of the craft. I started soaping cause it has always been an interest and the thought of not having to buy any more store bought soap was very appealing. I started the adventure with lip balms the slowly over 3 years transotioned into soaping. Thank you for accepting me into this forum.

H James and Congrats on your first attempts at soaping. Olive oil soap can be challenging to make. Ya did good!
Thank you I just plugged some numbers into a soap calc and wammo! I dont make any soap without oilive oil. I also make little 2 ounce 99% olive oil and 1% coconut oil facial soaps. With a simple mold. I guess I started my adventure off with one of the most challenging oils especially for a beginner. I acctually learned to chealate here in the forum a few months ago before i decided to join that thread was so easy and comprehensive. It's a pretty simple process.
