Whatcha' makin' or doin'?

I made tons of lip balm last night & will need to make more tomorrow. I am also painting elves & reindeer & snowmen, etc on my storefront. I iwll get photos uploaded tomorrow.

I just put into my new mould - tangerine poppyseed soap with olive, coconut and almond oil and cocoa butter and used natural colour, will pot pics once its taken out and cut. I hope to make some lip balms and solid lotion bars tonight and whatever else I can fit in.

I got a jump start on the weekend, as I was off work Thursday & Friday. I made: Candy Cane, Dragonsblood & Flying Foxx soap yesterday. I'm interested in seeing how the Flying Foxx sells, as we have a huge problem with fruit bats (otherwise known as flying foxes) in town. It might be a good one for tourists!

Today I am making foot cream and foot soak, to put into gift packs for tomorrow's market with some tootsie scrub.

I'm also trying to get some good photos of my soaps, as I have just signed up for an etsy store. There is nothing in there yet, hopefully by tomorrow arvo I'll have some stuff listed.

Yea! Way to go Becky. :D I'm sure you are going to do very well at Etsy. Can you post some pics? I'd like more info on the bat soap, and pics of it too. 8)

Paul

Tonight I finished off a Strawberry Caramel Bundt Cake Soap. I decided to do a HP this time and I like the result. Soap is still curing so we'll see how it turns out. I saw someone else's Bundt Cake and I liked it so much I had to try it. Mine, however will not be as pretty.... :?

This weekend I need to get a Christmas Soap done, I going to try swirling.... ....I want this soap to be red & white with a spearmint scent. I love trying new things. This week I got some spice soap on a rope done, a Hibiscus Mint loaf soap, and my shaving soaps done. Okay - so I might be addicted...... 8)

Paul, it is nothing fancy because I'm not that imaginitive  , just an FO dupe of Lush's Flying Fox (apparently also known as Godiva). It is a jasmine & honey fragrance, which is appropriate as the flying foxes we have here are blossom eaters. It's natural color with a gold mica top layer.

Thanks for the encouragement, too! I wanted to get myself a web presence before I move over to the pub. That way I can encourage the little customer base I have here to keep buying from me. It will save me having to win them over again when we come home in 12 months time.

I've been looking into setting up a website, registering a domain name, all that sort of stuff, but decided that etsy would do me fine for now, while I'm still starting out. I didn't want to be spending more on a website than it generates!

Probably no soap for me this weekend. I need to order some PKO - but I do need to make some 3 wick candles, and some pillars so wax will be in my pot this weekend. Also going to finish up some Christmas shopping and put together some gift baskets for the gals at work... :)

I'm just making some basic unscented, uncoloured "grandmas old fashioned soap" today. My FO's have been discouraging me lately (scent is changing in the soap and smelling bad!!) so I figured I'd give something easy a try.

No soap today.

I'm baking a raspberry almond cake and knitting socks.

I was too busy to reply to this thread this week-end. I did my final craft fair of the year on Sat.

My first year of craft fairs was a huge success!!!!!

I have an invitation to participate in another 2, but I'm calling it quits for 2008! I never did any less than 4 x's my booth/table fee, so I'm happpppyyy!!

Now, it's time to make soap for my first fair of 2009 in late Jan. I'm also working on some samples for a wholesale possibility to a bed & breakfast. [fingers crossed.]

Now, I can go through my inventory & cull out the bad sellers & identify the top 10 sellers.

I bought some pre-made lotion base & a goat milk cream base. I scented the lotions with my own scent blends & sold them at the last 2 fairs. I'm completely out, so lotions are a keeper.

I'm working on an eye cream & foot cream, so I'll be adding those, too.

I made a most awesome emulsified sugar scrub, but I need to figure out the mechanics of setting up water so people can test it at my booth/table.

I thought about that Mandolyn. This store near my home called sabon, they have a water fountain in the shop so you can try their salt scrub and such and its great! What about a motorized water fountain like the meditation fountain? I know it sounds weird but maybe that would work. You would obviously need extra help because you would need to drain the water every so often? Did that make sense? LOL

How about a contractors barrel, dressed up to look like anything but a contractors barrel? I think they are even insulated so you might be able to keep the water a little warm.

That sounds really awesome!!! I think the pump recycles the water. Wonder how they keep the water clean? I'd need electric, too. Hmmmmm. I'll have to research that.

That made me think of an actual galvanized tub. DH could drill a drain hole in it. Maybe I could get one of those water jugs with the spout & then put the tub under it. Cooooooool!!

Thanks for the ideas you guys!!! :D
