Hah, you might come back to find a dog-less and knife-less house, although Max would probably find a way to break out and get back to Long Beach somehow, he seems like he might be good at that kind of movie-story-doggie thing :)

I am probably going to be out of town (San Diego) and maybe out of the country for part of that time, or I probably would have taken you up on it, your house is awesome. And a block from the beach! My doggies might have tried to figure out a way to get back there as well ...

I like the idea of using castile paste, I may have to try that. I whipped my paste with some water to make a smooth creamy paste that would dilute easier in the future, it should work well.
I don't worry about the PH when using CP on the dogs, that has never seemed to bother them and they always smell better then when I use store bought shampoo. I just don't like how it makes my long hair dog feel rough for a couple days.

Do you use a vinegar rinse Obsidian? I always use that or a drop of conditioner, and his coat is shiny.

I used vinegar once but it didn't help a whole lot. I have used conditioner before, it helps but seems to attract dirt. I might try a oatmeal rinse next time. I don't bath them very often, only when they get smelly.
