I had an awesome idea after I saw someone make these m&p soap petals for on the go use in a little tin. So I made soap dots. Bastille with lavender and bergomat. Some are wonky and should have waited a little longer for it to thicken up but I'm excited to see if it works ImageUploadedBySoap Making1393570100.136368.jpg

How did you do that? Pipettes? If I do it right, I may be able to make them look like jelly beans.

Great idea! I am interested to see if it works out!

I was running a similar idea through my head using a bottle with a tip like you get ketchup and mustard in at a restaurant. I have a son that travels a lot who could use some kind of non-liquid soap for handwashing. He was raised by a nurse(me), so he complains about men's rooms not having soap.(I am not commenting on how I feel about that one.) He suggested something that could fit into an Altoids size tin.

I used a piping bag and a tip. I'm wondering how long they will have to cute for since they have such a smaller surface area than a bar of soap

I also want to try it with whipped soap next time cuz I think it might work better

So I think the dots r not going to work. I tried to use one and it slipped right of out my hand and into the drain. I tried again and same thing :( I will figure it out. Maybe spread a thin layer And then break it apart into small chips. Oh well. I guess I have embeds now. It's fun to try things tho. And they smell Sooo good. Lavender and bergamot

Have you seen the small "rolls". I can't find the link but there was an internet page where a woman made small curls using either a cheese slicer or a butter curler and she puts them in a tiny dish by the sink for guests to have an individual use soap. Those would fit in an Altoids tin for someone to carry in their pocket and might not wash down the drain so easily.

Good to know about the dots. Saves me from trying that. Maybe the curls would work. I am now debating on cutting some paper towels up into 1 inch squares to use to dip into the soap.(got to find that rotary cutter and cutting mat) Those should not slip down the drain too easily. I will ship some shampoo bars and liquid hand soap in the next care package, I guess.

Nice to know I am not the only person awake at this hour. :D

Here is what I was thinking you meant:

I don't want to use M&P either. I wonder if HP could be "molded" into maybe quarter sized discs to stay out of the drain. Sounds like a perfect project for a rainy Monday to me. They would then fit into a re-purposed bottle from the pharmacy.(that won't set the metal detector off)

Looking at the links ... I'm wondering if you could just shave a bar with a planer and lay the pieces between two dampish towels to flatten them and then dry them out and put them in a tin like those "mint" ones.

Or what about dipping pieces of wet wipes instead of silk flower petals? Hubby always leaves the wet wipes container open and I end up with a sheet or two that are dried out. I'm thinking I could cut those up and dip them in soap for him to take to work. He's a truck driver (a weird, clean one LOL!) and complains about not being able to wash his hands properly before he eats lunch. He's not always near facilities so this is such a great idea. I'm glad you all shared it.

ETA: or what about just bigger dots??

ETA: .. you guys have me thinking now. What about laying an entire tissue or wet wipe on a piece of parchment paper and then paint it with soap (or squeegee it, or whatever but you get the point). Let that dry and cure and then cut it into squares with a rotary cutter?
