I've been thinking on and off for a while now about beveling my soaps. I tried using a vegetable peeler, but my bevels were uneven and it looked sloppy. So I read threads here, and one of the main complaints I read was about how the wooden bevelers were rough and scratched the soap. So I found this one... http://forcraftssake.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=18_24&products_id=38 made of smooth plastic. It uses a wire to bevel, I liked that idea, because there is no blade to get dull over time. So I decided to order it, and it turns out I'm glad that I did. I love the look of the bevel, and it's very easy to use. I even tried some round soap, and while that's a little trickier, because you have to rotate the soap against the wire, instead of just pushing, it does a great job. I don't think that I'll bevel all of my soaps, but for the ones that I do, this beveler will make a fast job of it. It's just a beveler, it does not plane, and there's only one size bevel, not two, like I saw in some others I looked at, but it does a good job of slicing a nice, clean bevel. If there's anyone out there shopping around for this kind of tool, you might want to check this one out.
