So the first three pictures are of the soap I made the past Saturday in a soap making class! I don't have the skill to make the soap look awesome yet, just learning how to make it!

The big block before cutting

All cut, 10 bars total because I wanted chunky bars

This is the batch I made today. I uncovered it to snap a quick picture, it was partially gelled at the point I unwrapped it for a quick pic. I wrapped it up and set it back by the wood burning stove to gel all the way through.

This soap is EVOO, CO, Red Palm Oil (made it very orangey!), and castor oil. And it traced so quickly! Stick blending is amazing!

One more pic!

Aaaaaaand that is my soap. I really hope the peppermint and cedarwood EO in the new soap mellows. I used less than recommended and it is POWERFUL! Really hits ya in the face, but isn't a bad combo at all

I'm loving the big, chunky bars 8)

Maybe it's a guy thing, I dunno.... but I like my soap to look rough, rugged and handmade!

Excellent soap Stacykins! I love the crinkle cut look, and the contrast in the gelling soap looks great too! I love checking out my soap and watching the gel as it travels to the edges

Nice job on your first soaps - so - are you totally and thoroughly addicted yet?

Yes indeedy! Guilty of the addiction and in need of rehab!

It'll be a rough few months being without a kitchen to further my soaping skill, for spring break will end soon and it'll be back to the dorms for me.

Say goodbye to all your time and money, it's all gone from now on!
Seriously, you have done really well! Just wait till they have cured, you will be even more hooked!

beauty is only skin deep

its not just how a soap looks, its what it does for you when you use it. i'v never seen ugly soap. keep on soapin' zoe-t

stacykins, you prob aren't allowed to have in dorm,(fire hazard) but i use a spot in my basement with an electric burner. and i set a big pot of cold water near my to use for bringing down temps of lye(set pitcher or oil pan in) and rinse off thermometer.

ok so i'm an enabler, .... i have a deep understanding of the addiction

We have a small kitchen in the basement, but it is small and has very little in the way of useful pots/whatnot. So its there, but not good for use. I am moving into an apartment at the end of the semester, so it won't be terribly long until I rule my own kitchen and have everything I need at my fingertips :D

I got the crinkle cutter at a small soap shop I took a class at. It is called The Soap Barn. Maybe there is a soap supply shop near you that might sell the same thing.

The second batch is cut, but I need to wait for my father to download the pictures. I forgot my digital camera download cord in my dorm, so I am relying on his camera in the meantime!

When I zap tested it, I got no zap, but instead got a nice, minty taste on my tongue! That is about 4.5 lbs of soap, and I used 1 oz peppermint EO and .5 oz cedarwood. The combo smells nice, but it is definitely very pepperminty!

I can't wait until it ages. The color is a bit weird, but probably the EVOO and the red palm oil made it look like that. Oh well, who cares what it looks like if it smells good, lathers, and cleans nicely!
