So what happens if you just introduce your dry lye directly to the oils, nice and slowly?

I keep reading/hearing that water is only really used to "introduce" the lye to the oils, its not needed for saponification to take place. So I am curious, what if you pour the dry lye into the oil directly, although at a very, very slow rate, while stirring/mixing the whole time?

Thanks!

Dry NaOH doesn’t dissolve in oils.

Where have you been reading that information at Saltynuts ??? you can use other liquids but a liquid is used for emulsion , creating the saponification process of turning a fat into a salt. which creates a soap.
