Has anyone had this problem?

I made 100% Castile soap and used Wilton red colored silicone molds and the soap came out a lite pink from the molds bleeding into the soap.

But here is the thing......while I was stick blending I remembered I forgot to get the molds out....so I didn't hit trace yet and went and got the molds and when I got back I had trace like pudding! Probably was gone like 5 minutes tops. I stick blended a very little more to make sure it was a real trace and scooped the "pudding mixture" in the molds. Soap set up and is hard but is not the white color that Castile always gives me. Is it because maybe in the molds it was still saponifing(sp?)? I have done this recipe dozens of times and it always takes about 25 minutes for trace to happen with constant stick blending.

Any comments will be appreciated!
Thanks, Gregory

I used the exact same molds yesterday making the same soap, I haven't taken them out yet but I never thought of the molds bleeding into the soap. I will let you know when I unmold them (while keeping my fingers crossed that there is no bleed :) )
PS: my batch also took forever to get to trace.

Yes please let me know what happens. For me it's no big deal because the soap is just for my own use but was planning to give some as Christmas presents. Castile is the best because the longer you let it set the harder it gets. And it lasts forever! Good Luck!

Also this was the first time I used these molds so maybe the next time it won't happen....we will see!

The red molds bleed the first few batches - but then, in my experience, it stops.

FYI - the blue molds don't bleed.

So I unmolded my soap this morning to no bleed! It was still very soft but no red. Did you wash them before using, I soaked mine in hot soapy water after I bought them, that could be why you had some bleed (just a thought).

Mine didn't bleed. I have cupcake, bundt and small cupcake. I did wash them first in hot soapy water; maybe that made a difference? Not sure. I didn't even think about them bleeding.

Thanks for the replies! And no i didn't wash them at all so now I will scrub the Heck out of them and see what happens. LOL! Thanks for the help! Gotta love this forum!

Later, Gregory
