Shrink wrap protects the soaps' scent better, but it's not biodegradable.
This tracing paper is fairly translucent and might give a hint of the soap design through it, but will it help preserve scent and protect soap from dos?

Biodegradable shrink wrap is actually available. I haven't used it or priced it, but it's been around for a few years.

Perhaps you can buy some tracing paper at a local store and test it out before buying in bulk.

I use stretch wrap from costco. I cut enough to wrap slightly once and stretch, its food wrap and looks good.
