Hi everyone,

Can anyone advise me on how to make shower gel with jojoba beads?

I would like to try to make a shower gel using a shower gel base, glycerin, F.O and carbopol polymer to suspend the jojoba beads.

I will be using 4 liters (1 gallon) of shower gel base. I need to know what percentages to use because I don't want my shower gel to be too thin from the fragrance. I don't want it to be too thick because I used alot of carbopol polymer.

Should I add a preservative as well?

Thanks

Every fragrance will act different with every base. It's just going to be trial and error on your part. The manufaturer of your base should have a max% listed on their site. I would start with 1/2 what they suggest and add more from there untill it suits you.

1/2 teaspoon per 8oz may be perfect for 1 fragrance oil but 1/2 tsp per 8oz of a different fragrance oil (even from the same supplier) may turn your base toa water consistancy. Every fragrance oil has a different chemical make-up so ea will behave different.

Some bases boast they are 'suspention' bases. You might want to look into one of those.

The basic shower gel at Essentials by Catalina is by far the thickest I have tried.

BTW: All of the shower gels on the market, that I am aware of, already have a preserve in them.
