cant wait to get my oils, clays, fo, and pigments tomorrow. fastest shipping ive ever gotten from them(ordered sunday arriving wed). does any one have experience with the clean laundry FO from WSP? only bummer is i have to wait till thurs to get my olive oil from costco, but i may pick up a couple lbs of beef fat today to render and use. how much tallow do you get per lb of raw beef fat?

I do not have answers to any of your questions, but I just got all my oils and EOs, today!! : ) I ordered Friday and got them, today. : ) Yay!

I got tea tree and fir needle. I had a particular request for it, when I was mentioning different blend ideas. But, when I tested them together, there were too many top notes. It's very "pine-sol" ish, and it needed something to balance them, ground them. Luckily they included a sample of Dragon's Blood Cybilla blend FO. Wait! Before I attempt to use these together. There's nothing wrong with using EOs and FOs together, right?

Anyway. : )

I dont believe theres anything wrong with FO/EO blending because theres some FOs with EOs in them.

Just clean laundry. My gf wanted it really bad and i got it to bump my order above 50$ for a free color sample. I also got kaolin clay white, bentonite clay(sp?), blue oxide pigment, 8lbs coconut oil, 8lbs palm oil, and a neon pink color sample.

"Clean Laundry" is the scent? Ha! Cool. I want some colors, too. One of these days. But, I'm just glad to have Palm, coconut, and castor, at the moment.

PS, I'm pretty sure I just created the perfect recipe. It's crazy how everything comes together perfectly when you are using the right amounts of the right things. : ) I'm excited!!

FUN STUFF! Are you checking for UPS updates online every 5 minutes? lol, that is what I do when I order. I have not ordered that scent from WSP, but I did qualify for a free FO sample and I got Lolita Lempika Type (it's one of my favorite perfumes!) that smells pretty close to the real thing. I haven't tried it in soap yet to know if it will work. Then I also have ordered their Tea Tree, Litsea, and Lemongrass EO's and they smell great too!

yup thats the name of the scent lol. my gf looovvveeees that type of scent so i got it for her.

whats your perfect recipe? right now i use OO, coconut oil, and palm oil. probably gonna grab a few lbs of beef fat to render tomorrow. right now my recipe is like 45% OO, 25% coconut oil, 30%, palm oil or something like that. i tried a bar after 2 weeks of curing and i liked it, but i really wanna try some tallow cuz i heard it makes amazing soap.

nope not checking every 5 mins yet. ill be doing that tommorow when it says its out for delivery haha.

Oh, I'm sure it's not PERFECT! But, I think it's the best I've come up with, yet. In a perfect world, I would have made the Grape Seed at the ounce, but alas, I was .1 ounces short. : )

I want to try the fresh laundry scent. : )

I want to try tallow, too. My husband has some coworkers who hunt. I'm hoping I can get something from them. : )

Hmm. Ill have to try castor and grapeseed sometime. Right now im just working with basic 3 oil recipes using cheap oils.

When I render Beef Tallow I get between 75-80% depending on where it came from and how cleanly it was cut.:)

Ok cool. Do you prefer dry or wet rendering? Seems like wet would be easier but would take longer.

I prefer wet, just because I have a tendency to get easily distracted.:-D It does make a very "lovely" smell so I try to do it in as big a batch as I can.

I also use my food processor to break it into as small a pieces as I can get before I start and then add the water and render it down after it's all melted I separate it into 2-3 bowls and put it in the fridge overnight, after everything floats to the top and hardens i pick the tallow out of the remaining water and scrape off the bits that collect on the bottom. I then cut it in 16oz chunks plastic wrap it and toss it in the freezer until I need it.

You see me getting my beef fat, I empty the shelves at all 4 grocery stores and the butcher shop so I only have to smell it once in a wile. I currently have about 15 lbs in my freezer lol:roll:

LOL I check my tracking usually twice a day until the day it's out for delivery. I love coming home to see a box on my porch

WSP tea tree and lemongrass EO's are great for the price. Haven't used the tea tree yet but have used the lemongrass twice so far and happy with it. I have to start saving up my orders with WSP so my orders quality me for the free samples.

yeah they changed their whole rewards system. now you only need a 50$ order to get a sample. its just a color sample though. 100$ still gets you a fragrance but also a color now. heres a link http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/Free-Product-Program.aspx

im gonna get like 10lbs of fat from the butcher by my gf, i just dont know if i have a pot big enough to do all 10 at once lol

Hey! Do you have a Cash and Carry in your area? Their stainless steel pots are pretty inexpensive, considering. Yes, other places are cheaper, but they have all of the sizes you could possibly consider.

I have so far used the inexpensive and readily available ingredients so far, yet. But, using all of these, just lifted my soap to another level. It traced quickly, its consistency was brilliant, and everything was just "super-badass!"

nope no cash and carry here. im sure i can find a big pot fairly cheap somewhere like Christmas tree shop or big lots

Soulsajam, if you have any health food stores near you, check them out for clays and whatnot, in the future.. There is a bulk/healthfood store in my town and in the they have a section with all kinds of bulk herbs, clays, etc. They have dried chamomile, calendula, lavender, peppermint and they had french red and greens, kaolin (french white) clay and even bentonite. I was pleasantly surprised.

That said I got a bunch of FO's yesterday too! Looking forward to making OMH soap with my new OMH scent tonight!
