Have you contacted her again to tell her the soap is lye heavy? She should at least know that for sure. Is there contact information on her label? I'm thinking since you (it appears) would rather not pursue it any further, send her an e-mail or a letter telling her it is definitely lye heavy. I find that putting my thoughts in writing rather than having a telephone conversation helps me not to forget to make any points I want to make. If you do decide to pursue it further, it's relatively easy to file a small claims suit to at least get your medical bills paid.

As to the infamous "hot coffee" suit, don't be so quick to make fun or disparage that case. You need to see the photos of that poor woman taken in the hospital. She needed multiple skin grafts. The coffee machine at that particular McDonalds had been complained about and caused injury numerous times, and when it was tested the temperature was way over acceptable limits. It was truly a horrific event.

I would suggest that if you do contact the soapmaker again that you do it in writing. And keep a copy of what you send her.

If for some reason you have residual side-effects, which I hope you don't, then you have a record of your conversation.

Thanks for sharing this though. It serves as a good reminder of what not to do.
