Does anyone have experience using sesame oil in their soap? I use it for other skin mixtures i make and just directly and think it would be an interesting addition to a soap recipe. I am a total newbie

I think that will be very soon (hopefully) if i have some time this weekend. Really the problem is deciding which experiment to do!

I haven't tried it, mainly because it has such a short shelf life.

Same here, and I've heard that the smell comes through in CP....although some people like the smell.

If you use sesame oil.....it might make some sense to get some ROE and add to the oil to keep your soap from going rancid.

Where would i get the ROE (is that rosemary Oleoresin extract?)?

Does that stuff have a smell?

Yes....rosemary Oleoresin is what it is. It has a slight herbal smell that doesn't come through in my soaps.

I think I got mine at Essential Wholesale.....do look around at the soaping suppliers and check their usage rates.....some are more concentrated than others.

thanx for your help!

would GSE and vit. E work at all? I have some of that somewhere in the house, I'm hoping to make a small batch tomorrow.

The vit E might help, but recent research is saying that GSE is of no benefit.

I have tried a little bit once (5% in cp), all went well altough the percentage was to low to have a real effect, but I think it does add up to the 'label appeal'. Like it better over my stir fried veggies though

I learned from Paul here on the Forum to use Tocopherol T-50 which is what I call Vit E on steroids. I've been using it in all my oils when I first get them in & a bit in each batch of soap & in my salves. I've been doing that for almost a year now & have had no rancid oils, none in my soaps either & no DOS.
