Thinking about doing a sea mud and activated charcoal 2 layered soap. Should I just make a sea mud soap and a charcoal soap or would combining the 2 be okay?

I would just make one soap. Then I would hold out a little water to disperse the charcoal and clay. Say your recipe called for 16 ounces of water total, use 12 ounces to mix with the lye, and use 2 ounces to mix with the charcoal, and 2 to hydrate the clay well. Bring the batter to emulsion or thin trace, and split it evenly by weight. Then add the dispersed charcoal and clay to the batter splits, and stick blend the bottom portion to a thick enough trace to support the top. Then blend the top portion and add it gently to the top.

This works a treat for me, although some people prefer to disperse the clay and charcoal in oil instead of water. But I feel like the clay likes the water better :)

Clay would definitely like water better -- good call, Seawolfe. And it's nice if you can give it a little time to hydrate. A clay particle is not an impervious solid chunk like a grain of sand. It's more like a sponge and it likes to soak up water.

This is my charcoal clay soap. I add the clay directly to the oils when melting and stick blend it in. Then I take 1 t of charcoal mixed with a bit of the warm oils and mix up and add to half the batter. Hope that makes sense :)
