Saying hello

Hello, Ive been homebrewing for 11 years and Ive been brewing professionally for 4. However, I've suffered the fate of many here in Ohio and have been laid-off. I've always wanted to make soap ever since I'd seen Fight Club- my favorite movie and with all this extra time on my hands I look forward to bustin out some suds soon! Now, if someone would just suggest some ingredients to buy I'd be in business.

I figure my first order will come from wholesalesupplies.com since theyre local for me. I've also narrowed down my essential ingredients to Coconut oil, olive oil, castor oil and, of course lye, which Im hoping my local lowes will have.

Add palm oil to your list and you'll be able to make some real good soap :wink:

One of my favorite recipes is:
25% coconut oil
15% palm oil
45% olive oil
5% castor

www.soapcalc.net is a decent lye calculator.

Welcome to the forum. Just make sure you have plenty of base oils, because when you start there no stopping. I have plenty of soaps and making more tomorrow.
