Salt soaptastrophe!

Just wanted to add my suggestion as to the solid salt soaps. Don't even try to grate them, just crush them as much as you can. They can't be grated even if you try. Trust me, I did and all I got for my trouble was hands that were useless for DAYS.
Also, I ended up making another batch of the same soap only without the salt, and added 2 tsp ppo of Greek yogurt to it, THEN added the crumbled salt soap.
I made half the amount of the salt soap recipe. So if your failed recipe is 10 lbs, make 5 lbs (w/o scent oc). Your eo's will carry over actually, not as strongly, but the yogurt will not only make the batter de-celerate, but will help the scent stick around.
Eta: I add the yogurt only AFTER I get trace on the remedial soap batch. Otherwise you'll be SB for HOURS.
I averted 2 disasters like yours doing it this way because I seem to like banging my head against walls to make sure they're hard. Go me.

it's hard to believe it's been weeks since this disaster soap. I've def been sort of traumatized into inaction. Today I mixed lye, and measured all the things to give it another go. I really need a wall clock in my studio!!! I'm not sure how long ago I mixed the lye, maybe 1.5 hours ago. I mixed it outside since it's a larger amount and I don't want to worry about the fumes. I forgot to take it's temp when I first mixed. It got hot and the lye dissolved quickly. I don't use my usual sugar because salt soap, so I didn't see the slight discoloration from heat. It's usually 195-220 when I first dump the lye into the water.
Is it possible for it to cool down to 138 in the matter of a mere hour or hour and a half max?... (seems like fast cooling to me, but I could be wrong...)
Wondering if possibly my lye is off?....
I could measure and mix some more and see what the initial temp is. I don't want to, but I could...
What do you think?
What would you do?

I’m back in the game!!! Whew what a workout!!! There was a little oil separating on top, after I poured them. I blended for about 15 minutes! And I was definitely getting thin trace. But, I think it was my 20% SF.

%100 CO, %100 salt PPO, scented with lavandin, lime, litsea, with a little tea tree oil.

I'm glad things went better this time. I know you make bigger batches than I do, but salt soaps usually come together quickly for me, and I've never had separation once poured. Oh well - it seems all is well with this batch.

What % SF do you use? And What % salt PPO? There was the tinniest bit of oil on top of the edges of some of these. Maybe that happened before and I didn’t notice it. But, at least there was enough saponification and emulsification happening that my salt was nicely suspended this time. I am just assuming this oil was due to the %20 SF.

Well shoot. Now I’m confused. Definitely some thin bit of CO on top. And soap still a little soft. It’s been awhile, but I thought last batch was hard as a rock at unmolding. These are at about 20hrs. What do you think?
