I don't know if this is a new topic or not, I suspect not. But here's my question. I want to make roe scneted soap. First of all, what is the method for creating a homemade rose infusion (most places I find indicate to add vodka as a preservative)? If this is correct...add vodka as a preservative and then make your soap with the water...great. Then I have a recipe to do that. If not, do I just heat tthe water with the roses and use the straight water in my batch after straining it? Advice?

jarvan, I haven't done this but I found these two recipes on the internet for you.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I've never tried it myself, as I prefer rosewater, but I did find a couple of recipes! They're in swedish, though, so I'll translate.

Recipe 1:

4 parts oil
1 part roses

Put the roses in a jar and pour oil over them. Put in a sunny window and let sit for three days. Then take the roses out, replace with new ones and repeat the process. After the third batch of roses, the oil is finished. Pour out through a piece of fabric.

Recipe 2:

Oil
Rose petals
Salt
Cotton

Put some salt in the bottom of a clean glass jar and put a layer of clean, fresh but dry rose petals. Then cut out a piece of cotton to cover the rose petals. Pour oil over the cotton so it's drenched in it. Keep repating this process until the jar is full and tightly packed. Then put a lid on the jar and let it sit in a dry, sunny place for two weeks. After two weeks, replace the lid with a piece of cotton fabric tied over the top, then turn the jar upside down so the oil pours out. This should take a few days.

First of all, thanks for looking this up. I wasn't finding what seemed like "soap" type rose liquid. Here's an idea! I will try both ways and let you know how it turns out. It might be several weeks before I can do this because the weather here is unpredictable and cool yet, so I want to wait until I know we have sunny weather. I'll be on vacation in a little over a week, so I might not have time anyway.I am excited to try this. Thanks again.
