rose geranium FO

i've made two batches of rose geranium FO soap - (first batch thought it was the gm in it that stinks badly, so made a 2nd without gm), and well it stinks too - not sure what has gone wrong there - maybe because i just dont like rose geranium like i did a few weeks ago..

thinking (being only newbie to soap making) maybe i can grate it down, and make a hand-milled soap?? and put another fragrance in??
what do you suggest that will over power or even make rose geranium scent smell nicer??

Just curious...how old was the soap at the time of your post, and has the fragrance mellowed out any? I love Green Irish Tweed, but it stinks for weeks until it cures out. The first time I made that one I thought it'd hit the trash can eventually. It's my best seller! Time does great things for soap.

at the time of posting the soap was approx 2 weeks old.. i eventually threw it in the rubbish, and the fragrance oil - it smells exactly the same as the soap, and the scent was annoying me.. Im learning fast that not all fragrances can be used for both soap and candle making.. will in future buy all fragrances for soap making from a soap making supply company, not candle making -thinking i could use the fragrance for both..

Oh, I see. Yes, not all fragrances are compatable with soap. I do purchase several fragrances from candle supply companies, but only if the company has rated them safe for soap and bath and body. I know what you mean about a scent driving you crazy. Ever smell Nag Champa? Don't know why anyone buys this, but they do. Literally 1 drop of that in a lotion bar completely obliterates any other fragrance used. Just last night I filled an order for a lotion bar with vanilla and Nag Champa. If she can smell the vanilla, she's better than me, and I used the max plus just 1 drop of Nag.

8) Guess I smelled waaaayyy too much incense back in the 60s. Scent evokes memories. Wasn't that fond of the 60s.
