I hate wasting the scraps I trim off my bars, and would like to save the too-small slivers to rebatch and send to Clean the World. However, they all have different scents - how does that affect the end product? Since FO does survive the heat of saponification, won't you end up with a rebatch that smells terrible with everything mixed together? I must be wrong, since people rebatch all the time, but I don't understand how it would work. Searching didn't help me (but sometimes I'm search impaired).

If you are talking about what would happen if you send the scraps to clean the world--well, I don't know how they handle that.

However, if you are talking about rebatching for your own use....I try to chose scents that blend nicely. for instance I recently had a vanilla batch that ended up ugly and so I used it as confetti soap in a cedar batch and the two scents worked well together.

I meant I wanted to rebatch the soap myself and send it to clean the world. My kitchen soap is scented with eucalyptus and rosemary, my hand soap with a citrus scent, and my shower soap is coconut lime verbena. Not sure how that would all work together.

I just reread the first post of the sticky on clean the world. Unless there is clarification later, it looks like Clean the World people rebatch whatever you send them. So it would seem like a waste for you to rebatch it just for them to do so also.

My understanding is they rebatch used soap, but not unused soap.

today's rebatch

I just did a rebatch today of soaps that didnt' turn out the way I wanted. I paid no attention to scent or color. I ended up with a brown mass that I d
dyed to almost a maroon color, that smells horrible. I am rebatching the rebatch tomorrow and adding more red to try and get it to true maroon. I am going to add a lot of cinnamon to try to overpoiwer the scent muddle. I decided to do this color and scent scheme for the local university, whose colors are maroon and silver, and use cinnamon because it is a strong scent and then it won't just be Grizzly soap, but it will also be Cinnamon Bear soap. Hope it works out, but from now on I will be seperating out scents and trying to match up those that might complement each other.

Looked on their website, and they only rebatch heavily used bars. They sterilize lightly used bars. It doesn't say, but I would guess they don't do anything to obviously new bars, or perhaps sterilize them just in case.

Well I'm all for helping them but could not see me sending a used bar of soap, just mho. My understanding was that they rebatched everything to make sure its all safe. Not lye heavy and what not, I could be wrong.

my rebatch

The second rebatch came out smelling great. I gave up on the cinnamon, and went with some mixed citrus. It covered the bad smell wonderfully. Now the bars smell really clean and mild. I was able to get them pretty close to maroon too. I used the extra trim to make little balls for imbeds in another soap. The rebatch out of the mold and not cured was like modeling clay.

Glad it worked out for you. I think I may just go for it when the time comes....heck, I would have just thrown the stuff away anyway.
