I've been having problem re-batching my HP soap.
I usually make HP soap and after a day or 2 it's usually hard enough to cut.
Now, I've made some scentless & colorless HP soap, didn't get to finish it due to lack of sleep ;) and thought I'd re-batch it later on using my crock pot.
Now, I didn't use more than a few drops of water but somehow the soap stays soft very long. It's been standing for 3 days now, and it still wobbles when I touch it.
Does anyone have this experience as well? Is there a way to resolve this?
I just don't understand it, since all my HP's are usually great.

I can't answer your question but I believe there is a soap goblin that has been making its way around the forum messing with our tried and true recipes and methods. I think you've acquired it this time. ;)

I know my rebatches are always softer because I add water to smoothen them out, but never wobbly.

NO KIDDING! I didn't have a goblin, I had a SOAP DEMON!!! He caused destruction EVERYWHERE!!! I had morphing, spills, malfunctions, breaks, seizing! Putting it all behind me.
BTW, just want to say to all of you experienced soapers...you give good advice when you say, "don't sell until you are ready". I can't imagine trying to get ready for a craft show or farmer's market and having to deal with things that are new to me. For the time being, I am just like, "Oh well, throw that away" or..."maybe I can rebatch"..or "need to get that recipe better".

LOL, a soap goblin! Priceless.
I'm in Ireland, so I'm starting to think it must be a
soap Leprechaun...they're mean little creatures...Oh, if I catch this guy...

Oh and CaraCara, yes, I get that it would stay a bit softer if you use water,
as this happened to my tea tree re-batch soap last month. (I couldn't get it to do anything
and may have added too much water because I became impatient).
But this time, I warmed up the crock pot first, put the soap in (which was close to rock hard)
and because it was melting so nicely on its own I merely put in a few drops of water and I have a
very soft soap to say the least.
And the frustrating thing is that, before (pure and unscented) and after, it was one of the loveliest soaps I've ever made.
It is just too soft to wrap. But hey, I guess I just need to keep this little gem to myself...I think the Leprechaun is trying to
tell me something...
