This is looking a tad more promising! I’ve just trimmed the top but it’s still a little soft so I’ll wait a while before cutting the rest.

What wizardry is going on with that outside texture?!!!
That wizardry is a silicone mat! Patented by me dontcha know. I line the tube with it for several reasons - being easier soap extraction, easier clean up, pretty edges. And possible more reasons that I can’t think of right now. Mostly just habit. It’s what I do when I use a PVC tube.

VERY cool! Are there other ways you use it besides to line your column mold? It may not be large enough for my mold. Now that I converted it hahaha 15"x24", my mold is 3" diameter, 12" long. But my plates are a perfect fit, I'd only be able to use it with non-pull throughs.

There are lots of pretty mats, just be sure to check the size as some are pretty small. Search for silicone lace fondant mats on Amazon and you should find many. This one is big enough for your column mold, but sounds like it might not work for your pull through. Besides lining a column mold, you can lay the mat in the bottom of a slab or loaf mold and pour over it. It is also possible to use a contrasting color to fill the pattern before putting it in the bottom of the mold, which gives a very pretty effect also.
The first time I saw this was on Auntie Clara's blog You searched for impression mat - Auntie Clara's Handcrafted Cosmetics She made her own impression mat and created a gorgeous soap using it. The Soap Challenge Club featured impression mats 4 or 5 years ago. I'm sure you can find some YouTube videos and Instagram posts from that challenge and what others have done since.

I haven’t actually made a pull through soap in over a month. Ever since I’ve had major supply issues with my tallow. I’ve made a few loaf mold soaps, but I’m concerned about how the difference in tallow consistency will affect my pull throughs. But here we go!
Last night I prepped for four batches. I try not to drink and soap (SUI?!
), but prepping ingredients is fine.
The first two batches will be unscented. I’ve had folks asking for the ”pretty soaps” but without fragrance. Fingers crossed!
You probably already know this trick. But, lots of small things can make the convoluted prepping process for pull throughs easier.
Use a chopstick to put your baggie in the bottle. Then I tape the edges of the baggie. But don’t forget to use a skewer, or toothpick to poke a small hole in the top edge to let the air in the bottle out!!! Otherwise when you pour soap in it will just spill everywhere, don’t ask me how I know.
This is my first pull throughs with my new tallow and it is very different. I don’t like this tallow nearly as much. It’s soft and yellow, even when it’s cold. I’ve since learned that this is trim fat vs leaf fat. But it’s good fat! And I’m stuck with 5 gallons of it. So, I’m going to have to adjust either my recipe or my technique. I’ve prepped 4 batches of same recipe, so for these four I’ll explore different technique.
my first batch today barely layered and looked muddy all the way to the top. So, we’ll see how it goes.
Second batch I mixed at same temps but stirred more and longer, and waited for a minute or two before I started pouring. And it was better.
So maybe there’s hope after all.
I also added a bit more SL, and I’ll let it set longer. Especially now that I’ve got my brand new bad *** cutter! Yay!
Oh, and both these are unscented, which has been a request. But it felt weird.

That first one may be called Cheerful Damn It! If it doesn’t turn to a muddy mess. I’m obsessed with the cheerfulest colors I can put together right now.

I’m considering trying a rainbow pull through. It’d be a helluva lot of work if it doesn’t turn out!!!
I was thinking 7 rainbow colors and a layer of white.
Here’s my consideration. I’m rarely pleased with the outcome unless I have highly contrasting colors next to each other. Rainbow colors do not contrast, they transition.
Would it look like mud?!
Would it look like tie dye?

I've done pull-throughs, but not like yours, lady! The most colors I've done are three (four if you count uncolored batter). The thought of anymore scares me.
I'm wondering if a rainbow pull-through might have an ombre quality. Maybe?
I did a quick search, and here's the most vibrant rainbow soap I've seen in a long time. It seems they used more "true" colors, rather than the borderline pastel colors I usually associate with rainbow soap....:

I’m always shooting for the most contrasting colors. Even just black and white works amazing! I would love to see some colors that are close-ish to rainbow, in a pull through, if anyone has some!
