Plastic in my soap?

Have you come across this before?

I have something plastic-like in my soap-see pictures, i tried to capture it-it’s like plastic bag pieces.
I’m a home hobbyist, only me and my husband at our house so there is no way something was introduced into the soap.
Could this be the result of a chemical process?
This is a salt soap with 60% Morton’s canning salt added after trace.
Any ideas are appreciated, thank you

I've never seen anything like that and I have no idea what it could be, sorry. Can you pull it free? If you add water does it change in any way? Could something possibly have come from a mixing container? I'm just spit balling here - I really have no idea.

It doesn’t pull free, and doesn’t change with water.
I measure out everything painfully careful, so I imagine I would have seen plastic (like from a cap-cover) flow into the mixture, but perhaps that is it…

I’m going to break the soap apart and look at it further and then throw it away.

How weird, will you let us know what happens when you break it apart? It is too bad that you have to do it, that is a cool looking soap.

Was your container of salt lined. With a inner bag? Check it for tears? 60% is a lot of salt to hide in. Last to be added. I have also seen old Tupperware bowls delaminate like this. Just one of those odd ball situations?

Oh I’m embarrassed and appalled! Here is a piece of plastic from my soap! I will challenge all of my procedures to assure this doesn’t happen again…

That was in canning salt? If so, I'd alert the store so something like that doesn't get in someone's food.

I'm glad you found the problem. Better this, I think, than having to wonder if all of your tools and ingredients are the problem. And if it were me, I wouldn't give away/sell the bars from this batch but I would use them myself - I love salt bars.
