Is anyone else having issues right now with this preservative?

I now know of two other people have problems with this preservative preventing mold, including a supplier. I use it at 1.5% and everything is very sterile while making my products and at this point I have had to throw out a large batch of Whipped Body Frosting because it went moldy.

So I'm just trying to get a feel for how many others there are with this issue?

ETA - I have contacted the manufacturer to see if there are expiry dates that we need to be aware of, or if there might have been a sub-quality batch.....

Oh wow! That's all I use for lotions and scrubs. I haven't had any noticeable issues...but what worries me is what you can't see.

There are 3 of us that have had Whipped Body Butter go moldy from Optiphen we bought in July! I have contacted the actual manufacturer of the preservative to get more info like expiration dates etc.

I've been using Optiphen for quite awhile. I don't know if there's any issues but my bottle is pretty old. How can I tell if there's a problem? I haven't seen any mold.

Well, I've about used it all up! Yum! I'm sure it's fine.

I use optiphen in lotions and scrubs and haven't had any mold issues yet. I have lotion in my cabinet thats been there for close to a year and is fine....please keep us updated on any info you find out

Yeah I have creams and lotions that I made about 18 months ago in my "test" section and I have no problems with them. This bottle of Optiphen is fairly new and we all bought from the same supplier.

The mold on the top of the frosting is pretty obvious......

I'll let everyone know what I find out as I get more info.

Only problem i have with Optiphen is keeping an emulsion so I swapped to Liquid Germal Plus for lotions and keep Opti for scrubs etc.
