Hi! I just got in to making homemade bath stuff. I've made a face scrub before, but then never used it (heh) and I want to get back in to making bath things at home, because it's one of the things that can get expensive if bought from a store. I've never made soap before in my life but definitely want to get in to making it and also other bath products (scrubs, bath bombs, bath salts, etc.) And I stumbled upon this site! :D

Hello and welcome! :D

Well, it can get expensive making things at home, too. However, you can start inexpensively and slowly add to your supplies. Why didn't you use your scrub?

I honestly haven't a clue! I made it and it was nice, but I never got around to actually using it... and it got really separated, enough that it was a hassle to mix again. :(

Was it just oil and something for the scrubbiness? The first scrub I made was just oil and brown sugar with some FO. The sugar wouldn't stay suspended and I had to stir it every time I wanted to use it. It was kind of a hassle plus I didn't like having to clean the shower floor every time after I used it. I switched to making an emulsified scrub and I liked it a lot better.

Yeah. It was white sugar and olive oil. I mean, some scrubs that have oil are awesome, but some just end up all gross. And it smelled weird, which I hate.

Did you use a fragrance oil in it?

agriffin posted an emulsified scrub recipe which you might like better. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=19295

There were other recipes posted on the forum about emulsified scrubs if you're interested in trying a batch. You could also check out swiftcraftymonkey.blogspot.com because she has lots of info for making skin products. I did see a scrub reicpe on her blog but there are probably more than this one.

Nope. It was just straight sugar and olive oil, which I now realize was a horrible idea. :)

That's true. I think I just added too much oil/not enough sugar. The mixture was really slick and gross-feeling. :(

Welcome!

Oddly enough, my teenage daughter loves a straight olive oil and sugar scrub. Go figure. At some point I'll figure out how to make something more refined.

Welcome, libbybug!

My son loves salt scrubs for is feet. I make one just for him with just Dead Sea Salt, jojoba oil and a chocolate/mint fragrance.
