Hello all.

My name is Mike and I live in Ontario Canada. Thanks to all of you and this forum for the information I needed on this wonderful process.

I finally took the plunge this morning and made my first batch of CP soap.
It is a black charcoal soap made with the following recipe:

Coconut 30%
Olive 35%
Shea Butter 30%
Castor 5%

15ml peppermint EO and 1 TBSP of powder charcoal.

I am using a kitchenaid stick blender and the soap was like pudding after maybe 2 minutes of blending (on and off). Is it possible to trace this quick?

I put in my in my log mold (wood with lid). Now I am just crossing my fingers!!

I just checked quickly after an hour and it was already getting hard.

I 'll post some pictures after I unmold it and cut it tomorrow if all goes well.

Mike

Hi Mike, welcome and congratulations!

Mine trace fairly quickly sometimes too, that sounds ok.

It's pretty exciting!! Can't wait to see pics.

Thanks! - I should have waiting until tomorrow to cut them but I just cut them up into bars and they look great!! Do you see less of the "cutting marks" if you wait a full 24 hrs when the loaf is harder when cutting?

I will take some pics tomorrow and post them here.

Mike

Welcome Mike!
Sometimes mine also trace quickly like Haven. I cut mine after 24 hours and the knife I use has these circular shapes on them and you can see a slight imprint after cutting (24 hours later). It adds "character".

Dude! You rock!!!

Yes, the cut lines will be less noticable if you wait a bit to cut.

Can't wait to see pics of your firstborn!
