Hi everyone,

I am about to make soap for the first time and I was wondering if someone has a very basic, easy recipe that will make quality soap? (Without a million ingredients)

I already have the lye and am not using the stove - so I believe that this is called cold pressed.

If anyone has any tips on saponification - I would love to hear them as well!

Thanks in advance :D

Hello and welcome! I don't know what you mean by tips on saponification. Saponification is just the process of lye and oils chemically reacting and turning to soap.

You could read David Fisher's How to Make Soap for a brief overview. As to suggesting a recipe, I don't know what oils you have but you could look through this topic on favorite soap recipes. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=736

You could also browse through the Soap Making Recipes & Tutorials section to see if anything looks interesting to you.

However, you could make the recipe below if you have olive, palm, coconut and castor oils. It will make a nice soap.

45% OO
25% PO
25% CO
5% Castor

Does PO stand for Palm Oil? I can't find it anywhere.

I do have all the other ingredients.
