I set out my soapy ny res to start playing with colour and patterns. I’m now at the end of my soapy year, my cupboard is full so i have no room to cure any more til after Christmas - and darned if my OH didn’t buy me the most delicious aloe Vera and coconut water fragrance oil grr 😂

anyway here’s my pics. They need refining of course, I’m a little rough around the edges but that will happen in due course. My big take away is I’ve had fun, and my house smells lovely and I have lots of lovely soap to use. All soap is for personal use, I don’t sell. Perhaps in a few years time but I just love my hobby.

lemongrass/grapefruit and tea tree

lemongrass/grapefruit and tea tree - redone as I thought the first was ruined due a really fast thickening batter

spearmint and eucalyptus

the multi pic - top - lemongrass - an attempt at layering and creating a hanger swirl
Rose geranium and ylang ylang - pink clay used to colour
Second - lavender and mint - swirled in the mould
Cedarwood and bergamot with calendula petals
Third row - sweet pea - in the pot swirl
bluebell - swirled in the mould

finally there is Cedarwood and bergamot made in a rectangle mould and spun on a lazy Susan, and Rose geranium, lavender and ylang ylang - rose clay with black mica lines ( thinking I might try activated charcoal but wanted to test with a cheaper option first!)

thank you everyone who has helped and encouraged my soapy adventures this year!

Thank you Mobjack and Zing 🤗 I’ve had an awesome soapy year. Next year I’m going to try refining and neatening up the patterns
And try to make a polka dot soap for the aloe Vera and coconut water fragrance oil. I’m already wondering if using a pipette will work to create the dots 🤔

I think your soaps look really great for it being your first year of color/patterns.

As for play with polka dot soap, a couple of options:

Polka Dot Soap I

Polka Dot Soap II & III

You can get Plastic Jumbo Straws on Amazon 100ct for $7.99. They are easy to cut and can be reused multiple times.

Ohhhh, beautiful! May I ask what that silver color is in the mold with the blues - the circling swirl. How did it cure?
All lovely, but I think that is my favorite 🌸
Silver mica from a company called The Soapery. It’s cured lovely, still pretty new at 8 weeks cure but I’m getting a nice lather and the spearmint fragrance is lush. Can’t get any eucalyptus though sadly

Thank you for those links. I’m going to try the second one where she essentially creates embeds for a second soap. I’m thinking pale green and cream for aloe Vera and coconut water fragrance. Can’t wait til after Xmas to have a go!

Both are on my 'bucket list' of soaps to try. I think pale green and cream sounds wonderful and then you can do a reverse.
