HP Hemp Soap

Spearmint E.O. CP with Extra Virgin Olive Oil

and 2 New ones 3 weeks cured:
"Lemon Cheesecake Soap" CP: 1:1:1 ratio Lemon Myrtle EO:BergamotEO:Mango FO; Poppy Seeds & topped with Silver Mica and smells like Lemon Cheesecake.


All Natural Spice Soap: CP. Tumeric,Cardamon,Saffron,Bergamot EO & Poppy Seeds has a natural and not overpowering spice smell.

I had a discolouration problem with Sugar Plum Fairy [BB] - it went a dark yellow. I toned it down with white, and thought the only colours I could get away with was Dark Blue [to go green] and Purple. I wasn't skill, but luck that my guess worked.

It says you HP'd it, care to share your method?

Lovely soap.

I have never used Hemp Oil. I recently read that it is expensive, but I have never seen it in the stores so I don't know.

Hemp Oil

Dear April,
I buy my Hemp Oil from a cosmetic supplier in Oz. Yes it is expensive to buy at up to $77AU per litre [34oz] but New Directions also sell it, so I am told you have New Directions online in the US. Hemp imparts a beautiful herbal smell in the soap and is very softening on the skin. I do not add colour to this soap, it is the natural colour of the Hemp Seed Oil. It has a similar characteristic of Castor in the way that it gives a almost clear bar when Hot Processing.

All the soaps look great! I keep saying that someday I want to try hemp oil because I've heard it's good for the skin.

I forgot to ask - is it all hemp oil?

I've read that hemp oil can go rancid quickly and you should only use a small percentage in your batch. Also, what's the lather like?

Dear Hazel,
I use 10% of the oil value. You do not have to use a huge amount in the oil mix.

Thank you for this information. I've discovered that we have New Directions in Canada too. That's great. I've used Hemp Soaps before (unlikely handmade), and I do remember that I enjoyed the bars very much.

can you share what oils you used in the hemp one, I have hemp oil( pretty dark green) and never got a bar that looked like that, love it!!!

It is just Catherine Failor's Basic Recipe 1, but instead of adding all Castor, I added some of my Hemp. I am sure you would have her books.
