not brand new, I joined in June 2024.

Hi there!
I found the soapmaking forum after many searches. This is a fabulous site, informative and fun, and I'm glad to be here.

There's not much to tell.
I am new to soapmaking.
Interested in shampoo bars.
The first batch was in August last year, a tallow soap; it turned out good. I should've taken pictures.
The second was a test batch i made last week, rose wax and clay. Forgot the tallow.
It's not a pretty soap since I used a milk carton for the mold and didn't have any freezer paper. It's all good, it will be for home use after it's cured.

I hope to learn more from your experiences and knowledge.
* I'm 62 and live in California with my husband and doggo.

Thank you 😊

@SandyL , welcome!!
It sounds like you are diving right in! I've never heard of rose wax. Will you test your soap before a full cure or will you wait?
I'm curious, do you think had enough other oils to avoid your soap being lye heavy?

I'm a new soaper (well, not sure if I'm new anymore - made my first batch of CP soap in January of 2024, but have had period of high activity and low activity. I didn't make any in September, October, November and finally made a batch on December 31. I was so out-of-practice, I forgot some steps. Made one more batch in January (so that I could participate in the challenge). I was happy with the look but I forgot one of the oils!!

Anyway, this is a great place to learn. There are alot of experienced soapers who are really generous with their time and advice, so I hope you enjoy your soaping journey!

Hi akseattle and thank you.
The rose wax is very fragrant. I also added Rose Absolut to the oils. We'll see how well the fragrance "sticks".
I'll probably wait to test the soap after it's cured. When I rinse my hands after handling the soaps the slip and bubbles feel good.
According to the soap calculator oils and lye looked to be in good proportion.

Come on soap...Hurry up and cure!
Thanks again for your warm welcome.

Hello and welcome
Thank you very much! 😊
