you have your own olive oil?

sigh.

send me some? or better yet I'll come get it...

Nature Boy - I can't belive you would make soap with the oo you have in Greece. I lived there when I was in my late teens (a very long time ago), down by Glyfada (hope I spelled it right, as I said its been a long time - it was by the airport if I remember correctly). I litterally ate my way through Greece for 2 years. I'll agree that oo makes wonderful soap, but it makes much better... food. Geeze, bringing memories back of fresh bread dipped in oo with a good bottle of Retzina... just the smell and texture are insanely wonderful, not even to speak of the differences in oo between the different areas of Greece. Oh Dear God!!! And I've looked all over the US for a pizza that even remotely resembles the pizza and there isn't anything close! I was young and didn't think to get the recipe(s) from the Yaya's that taught me how to cook. I've spent many years craving a pizza I'll probably never have again, but oh, how blessed I was to even have been able to try it once, much less often for 2 years.

I love your soaps, they're simple and clean (no pun intended). I love the shape. Do you mind me asking what you used for molds?

Off to crave pizza a REAL Greek oo.

Beautiful!! How unique that you get to make it from your own olives. Your soaps are gorgeous. What else did you put in them?

Thank you all for your kind words.
Carebear come here and i'll find the best oil for you...
Twilitr and Butterscotch, the coloring is natural: the yellow is from orange/mandarin scrapings, the brown from cocoa, the grey from coffee.
Sunkawakan, nice memories! Olive oil gives an individual sweetness to any food. The molds are simple plastic bowls that otherwise used for sweets, ice creams etc.
Be well.

Sunkawakan, that "Invigoration" soap is almost for ...eating!-wonderful!
and that "sage" has a really nice color.
I don't give much attention to the appearance of my soaps, as to the raw materials.
Maybe a greek restaurant down there could help you about pizza!

Hello NATURE BOY, I may be the only one not envious of your olive oil, I also live in greece and have my own:)
I love your soaps, do you sell them?

OK, you two are hosting a soapers holiday. What month is best for us to come visit for a few weeks?

Anytime you want carebear:)
I would probably prefer late December. That's when the fresh olive oil is produced and it stays fresh for about a month. The taste is simply divine, highly acidic and buttery. After that it mellows.

Hello nup! Nice to found you here. Didn't you made your own soaps? I'm starting right now to sell them. If you want something more send me a p.m. to speak more (and in greek language).
Carebear, the right time to come here for oo is right now! In my region, the oo production is relatively high this time. And the prices relatively low (2,5euro - 3,5euro /kg for the fresh virgin oil).

Carebare - If you go in December DRESS WARM! Take evey bit of warm clothes you can find and then go buy more. I grew up in Colorado and had never in my life experienced cold (nor since) as I did in Greece! There is a reason they have the wonderful flokati rugs (we used them as bedspreads and I still use mine for that same purpose). The terazzo floors will cause your feet to freeze for sure. But I'll admit, there is nothing quite like a Greek Christmas, wow! Very very beautiful. If you can't go for Christmas, I recommend Easter. I love the Easter breads and the lamb cooked just to perfection.

Nature Boy - thank you for the compliments, I am honored. I do belive and agree with you that if you have quality ingredients and quality soap, the appearance is secondary. And I really like the simpleness of the looks of your soaps. The colors are pure and real and I'll bet they smell heavenly.

Unfortunately I've yet to be able to find, in the 30+ years I've been back, a Greek resturant that makes anything close to a real pizza. And, when I have been able to find a somewhat decent resturant, they look at me as if I'm from outer space when I ask for pizza - they all use heavy tomato sauce and spoil the taste of the oo. And the tzaziki (sp?) always seems to be watered down and tastes funny.

I'd settle for a recipie or 2 (hint, hint). I'm a pretty good cook as I learned how over there. A few Yaya's in our building took me under their wing and taught me but in the rush to get back to the States (long boring story) I didn't think to bring any of the recipies with me.

Just PM-ed you:)
Hope you don't mind answering gazillions of questions!

What? It's over 60 F over there right now!

I love fresh olive oil; when I compare evoo from the local supermarkets with the one I get directly imported from Morocco, what a difference.
