I wanted to harden soap I'm planning on and made the calculation in the Soap making recipe builder and lye calculator, substituting 50 % of water with vinegar. My trouble is I only have 9 % alcoholic vinegar so it doesn't fit in the calculator.
How can I calculate the quantity of
- 9% vinegar
- NaOH
to be used?

I never remember the vinegar formula... But the easy way would be to make a 5% solution from your 9% one and let the calculator do the work afterwards.

Of course I'd thought about this option - if only I knew how to get a 5 % soltion from 9 % :(

If you want X grams of 5% solution, you'll need 5/9 x X grams of your 9% and the rest is (distilled) water.
(So if you need 200 g of 5% solution, you'll need 200 x 5/9 = 111.1 g of yours, and then fill it up with water.)
