I am excited to be starting again. Now, all I need is some bay rum eo, digital thermometer (I have one coming, but if impatience gets me I'll use the one I have that looks like a thick old-fashioned mercury type for cooking). That should be it, I am thinking, hmmmmm.

mmm, should I go with crinkle cut or just a straight cut. We've all been there. We can help you thru... it.

On a serious side, twist your bars off the knife. Rather than pulling them off. Come off much cleaner.

Thanks for the welcome. Everyone is so lively and friendly. When I make my first "return" batch I am going to replace that avatar (yukie). Actually there was a beautiful bar of soap I made a gajillion years ago (purple and natural color) that I was SO proud of. If I could find that photo I would surely use it.

When you slice the bar of soap, more than likely it will be stuck to the cutter... instead of pulling the bar of soap off the cutter, twist it until it comes free. If you pull it you can get little picked marks on soft soap, twisting is much neater. ;)
 
Yes, the soap will stick to the knife blade. Simultaneously twist and slide the bars down to the knife edge and off instead of trying to pull the bars straight off the flat surface.
It will only stick if you are cutting too early, leave it a little longer and it cuts straight through, no twisting needed. I used a very thin flexible ham knife, not a thick bladed knife.
