The lavender buds are still purple, how is that. Every post I have read is that they turn into mouse turds. I liked how you put them on top, I was considering this and after seeing your soap, I am going to do it cuz it looks great!

Your soaps are great, pics are a little huge though

I had to giggle about the size of the photos. I'm so bad about that. There are tricks to resizing them, but I can't figure them out. So, FreeRabbit, you go with your big pics!!

Please, please keep us posted on the lavender buds. I have a pack but have been fearful of using them and having them turn brown and yucky looking.

All of your soaps are lovely. I have some dried hibiscus too. You've really put me in the mood to use some of the things that are just laying around.

hehehe I resized it but still too big LOL
Ok about the buds the ones inside are black alright
the ones on top retain color they are not involved in the sponification process!
I put the ones on top to make people understand what it is... so the imgaination will not work extra time LOL. I put them like any other topping, after putting in the mold at thick trace- put alot of buds and press on them with a towel to sink them into the soap but not compeletly.

Please resize your photos ... most storage places like photobucket have onsite editing that allow you to crop and resize.

I think (from what I can see) that your soaps look fabulous!

Yes. I will check back for any updates you have about the lavender bud topping. I will probably do it tomorrow anyways as I am DYING to!

I am obsessed with using whatever organic matter I have on hand. I used ground up sage and dried lemon rinds in my soap yesterday and I plan on using my lavender tomorrow. I am also going to start using spices, and see what fun/mess I can get myself into.

Thanks for the inspiration FreeRabbit!!!

Serfmunke - You must try clove-infused oil. It's to die for. I keep a batch brewing all the time. Even with a really old bottle of crushed cloves, I got an awesome aroma in the soap. I can only imagine how good it would be if I used new, whole cloves.

OMG that is so funny that you mentioned cloves because today I was, kinda, cleaning and organizing my spices and saw I had whole cloves. I thought to myself, WTF, what so I have that I never use cloves. Must have been from the holidays.

Anyways, thanks for a fantastic idea on what to do with the cloves!!! I will get on that soon. And the list grows...

If this is your first soap you did great and I love the BIG pictures.
