question about the beer soaps - does the scent of the beer come through? I just got an IPA from my local brewer and just wondered if it will maintain the scent after I reduce it and soap it. If not, I am trying to decide what scent I would like. He calls this one Ol' Homestead IPA. I don't know anything about beer making, but he said he took this beer out for me before he carbonated and stuff to the rest of it. It's about 2 weeks old now, he put it in a quart jar and closed it up tight. So tomorrow... I know what I will be doing.

That's a good question and I think it depends on the beer. Some say no scent at all, some say a slight scent, some say it smells slightly yeasty. If you want it to smell like beer, NG has a straight beer scent, and Brambleberry also has a small line of scents that compliments beers. For IPA you might want their honey ale. but they also have a few others if you don't care if it smells like ale or not. :)

So I've never made beer soap but I reallllly want to now! Can I just sub out the water for beer? Does it have to be stale beer?

I've made beer soap using an IPA, a lager, and a dark ale. I love the color varieties different beers bring to the soaps and the lather is awesome! Have fun with your beer soaps!

Thank you for reminding me that this soap has finally finished curing :)
But before i use them I'm gonna weigh the batch to see how much water has evaporated from them.
