Made my first soap with avocado puree and coconut milk today. Used a 50% lye solution then split the remaining liquid between the puree and milk.

I soaped pretty warm with a high lard recipe and still got almost instance trace. Not sure if it was the avocado, the coconut milk or the FO. Either way it had the consistency of cold gravy when poured and is a really nice green.

Can't believe it took me this long to try avocado. Can't wait to actually use the soap.

Woah I'm surprised!! You're so adventurous with soap id have thought you'd tried it 10 different ways ☺️

Yes, pictures.

hehe, pics will come later. It went into gel almost immediately which is odd considering I used a slab mold and didn't cover it. Whatever caused the acceleration, also made it heat up a lot.
I have used some weird additives but I generally have bad luck with fruit/veggie purees. I've not used cucumber or aloe yet either.

Oh, do aloe water! It's as easy to work with as plain water. I think it adds a slicker, more delicate frothiness to the bubbles.

Cannot wait to see the avocado one. I've been meaning to make some, especially now that the weather is getting warmer... I often have 1/2 of one left over from fajitas!

I've never had avocado speed up trace, I usually add goat milk, and I've tried many different recipes. I think the coconut milk was the cause of acceleration. It is always one of my favorite soaps.

So you considered the avocado as being a component of the lye water solution, not the fats? I'm still curious about avocado puree soap but haven't done it because I'm worried about the amount of fat in the drupe and its SAP value.

Nope the avocado puree does not accelerate trace at least not for me. I make many avocado soaps, after all I live in CA where avocados are virtually free! I soap with 50/50 lye solution blend up my avocado with oat water, coconut milk etc and add it in room temp oils. I do not count the fat in the avocado, but as most probably know I superfat low. It make an unbeatable soap when paired with avocado oil at 25%. Mine I fragrance with Guatemalan Avocado fo from NG, sadly no longer available, and Lemongrass. I just made avocado and fresh aloe with Lavender and lemongrass EO's earlier today. The thickeners in some coconut milk can cause acceleration

How much avocado did you use and how big is your batch?

<eyes the lone avocado being saved for lunch>

I know it is so hard to use that last avocado in soap... I usually use .5 to 1 avocado in a batch of 65 oz oils. Will bring you an avocado soap to the meetup. I add in french green clay with a little green oxide. The batter will not be green with just the avocado

I made a 2 lb batch with about 1 oz of puree, I was planning on using 2 oz but there were quite a lot of chunks left after I ran the mess through the sieve. I blended the avo with the coconut milk.

I've had coconut milk accelerate before but not like this. It was a new brand and unbelievably thick. I didn't use any colorant and the resulting soap is barely green. I'll get pictures once I wake up a bit more.

I always figure fruit/veggie puree as part of the liquid. If using fatty additives, I just lower my SF to 5% and don't worry about the extra added fat.
