Sorbolene is the worst cream you could apply to a skin that is troubled. It is a petro-chemical or mineral oil product, it contains a cocktail of chemicals that are harmful capable of causing allergic reactions & contact dermatitis in sensitive skins, can inhibit proper functioning of the skin. For dry or irritated skin there is nothing better than a lotion or cream made with vegetable oils, infused calendula oil, evening primrose oil, jojoba, borage etc. If you cannot make your own lotion just mix the oils and apply to affected areas. Best oils for problem skin are calendula infused, evening primrose in a base of jojoba & almond with some vitamin E and if you want to invest in an essential oil chamomile is fantastic but a bit expensive. You could also visit the health food store and find an eczema/dermatitis cream based on vegetable oils with herbal extracts and other goodies they work really well. Hope this helps

I don't take what doctors say as gospel, never have. My dry skin patches are not from my soap as I've had it a few months before using my own. She said that as we age we develop dry areas and to moisturize with sorbalene. I thought Sunlight was only for the laundry, but a friend told me today that there is one for personal use as well.

Ah well, will just have to use my soap for the smelly bits  and I'm not going to give her any of my soap, she charges like a wounded bull. Fancy me paying someone $170 to burn my skin on purpose.

I think I will convert the GP onto my soap instead.

Relle.

No, I don't take what doctors say as gospel either. To me, they are just prescribers of medicine. If I ever get one that asks me what I eat and how much water I drink, I'll pay attention. $170? Sheesh.

If I ever get a rash from using my own soap, I suspect the scent I used more than any other ingredient.

So Sunlight soap looks to be mostly beef fat and lye, with a whole lot of preservatives.

I would be highly suspicious of your doctor's wisdom, Rielle.

I didn't get a rash from using my own soap, I had this problem before I started making my own. I LOVE my own soap and so do others. :D :D :D

I don't have TV at home, so I'm only a little familiar with a daytime show called The Drs. Twice at the gym I watched it while doing the elliptical trainer. When a blurb about soap flashed on, I switched the sound over. Basically, a girl had written in complaining that her soap burned her skin. The awesome cute doctor's advice was to go for a more natural soap, the fewer ingredients the better. He said to stay away from detergents or any petrollates and to stick with natural oils, with soaps that someone would find more at specialty shops and boutiques.

I would love to have that little clip and share it around.
