1) can I make a MP soap base on a double boiler( I dont have a crock pot, dont want to invest in it, at this point in time)
2) with the recipe I have - a) it is not transparent and b) it is sweating a lot.

I forgot to mention about the receipe I follow
Phase one
Castor oil 75%
Coconut oil 25%
Stearic acid 10 %
Myristoc acid 4%

Phase 2
Lye 35%
Water70%

Phase 3
Coco betain 22%
PG 28%
Sorbitol 15%
Glycerin 1%

TEA 1.5%
 
My double boiler pan sets inside a small sauce pan. What I am saying is that most M&P base recipes call for more ingredients that would safely cook in my double boiler, as the mixture expands as it cooks.

Thanks for replying! I have tried making the base the recipe mentioned in a double boiler but my base has a greasy touch.. looks like that something is not right with the recipe. Am I following a right recipe

If you have an Amazon Prime account you can find used crock pots at really cheap prices. I bought an 8qt. for only $20.
