I am totally new and so far have nothing for my soap making (besides olive oil and coconut oil...which I always have, LOL!).

I don't have a lot of money to spend to get started, but I want to make some now!! Do you need to have a special mold, or can you use pretty much anything? Could I use my silicone and metal bread pans to mold soap in, and then slice them like a loaf of bread? Or a cake pan?

Silicon bakeware works the best and doesn't need lining, soap pops right out. Anything goes really, just about any box. Pringles cans work too. Make sure it's lined with waxed paper though. Oh and stay clear or aluminium, that stuff interferes apparently. Just remember to post pics afterwards :D

Thanks! Nice to know about the aluminum! I guess I will just get creative with it then!! :D

Now I just need to collect the other things I need to get started!

Just remember that once you've used a silicone mould for soap you can't' go back and use it for food, this is the same for all your soap items, spoons utensils jugs, everything.

Not a problem! I will be buying everything new except for my silicone pans--I hate using them for food. I don't like the smell they give off when I bake bread in them!

Silicone is great for soap, it's the one substance that the soap just pops out of, and you can get silicone moulds in all shapes and sizes.
Even a cleaned out milk carton will work as a mould.
