Does this look like mold? I purchased it online the 1st of October and just opened it last week

I too would contact them. That's pretty gross. I get unrefined and mine has never looked like that. Ask for a refund and order it from somewhere else.

The look reminds me of chocolate or cocoa butter "bloom". I wonder if shea butter comes down with 'bloom', too?

IrishLass :)

I hope nothing is wrong with it. That looks allot like my unrefined cocoa butter when it arrives or when exposed to heat (hot days) in the closet. I've just assumed it was the different fats separating out a little with a mild phase change. Since it was throughout I wouldn't think it was mold.
I'd slice off a chunk and melt it down. If it is mold you should see some stuff hanging out in the pot, if not it should all coalesce.

Unrefined butters can contain all sorts of microbial nasties, and they are often processed with water. I can't say for certain whether that is just "bloom" or something else, just so you know it isn't uncommon for unrefined butters to get moldy or otherwise gross.

This is how I do math; Oil + Water + Microbes = No thank you.

eta: is there a bad smell?

Hahaha, now that's the kind of math I can get my head around.
