Can one used homemade and then rebatched (french, hand-milled)soap in a decorative, detailed, and delicate mold without coming out with bubbles and ripples in your details? Would it require a lot of water and thus curing time? I want to use my own basic soap batches in a shape other than square or pvc round; I don't want to have to purchase M&P batches. I may not be posting this in the right place. Sorry if so.

Decorative, detailed, and delicate molds will not work with rebatch soaps very well. Most rebatched soaps will glop into your molds. They will never be as pourable as cold process. Why not make cold process soap and pour so you could use decorative, detailed, and delicate molds?

Yes, I agree with soapbuddy, you can use the detailed soap mould with CP soap, just use the freezer method to take it of it and be careful to the small details.

I read a book from the library in which the author did mainly rebatches and used decorative molds. (s)he had a section on the best oils or recipes to use for rebatching specifically for more detailed molds.

Unfortunately, that is as far as my help can go....I can't remember the name of the book, and I didn't take any notes since I don't want to rebatch unless it is a last resort. Not enough patience. Sorry I can't be more informative.

Regardless of the method you choose, I've heard that wiping a little bit of mineral oil in the mold before pouring can help to keep your details intact. Also, I would think anything that makes your bar harder (like sodium lactate), might help keep the details nice.

I'm terrified of the cold process ruining my fragrance oils and essential oils, but if that's the only way...

It's not that bad. Some EO's and FO's hold up better than others. How much do you use ppo? Are you scenting your square and PVC soaps?

I love CP soap.

if you're really into EO's and FO's a solid perfume is a nice idea.

I mostly use individual molds for my cold pour soaps. I also use both FO's and EO's in my CP soap without it changing any of the scents. Why did you say you were afraid it would ruin you scents?
