Belinda Williams of Love Your Suds made this beauty!

The Soap Challenge Club had a food and drink inspired challenge in June 2019, so you could probably find some examples of banana in soap on Instagram or YouTube. I have used banana, but I think I have only used baby food and not mashed/pureed fresh banana. As I recall, it was a nice soap.

Does banana (or other produce) take the place of some of the liquid? I use a 2:1 water/lye, so I'm thinking I could add banana and not change the water amount, but I'm not sure.

I blended it up extra ripe well enough I still considered it water replacement. Earlene, I would see the tiny seeds in the extra ripe bananas, not many but they would be there.

Anyone ever done this? Banana and Cream Soap
I was thinking of doing similar but using coconut cream (since my soaps are all vegan).
I love the look of it - but wondered if they turn browner over time? Or do they keep that nice speckled look?
Have you ever followed Valerie Howell Holdren on FB or YT? She makes hot processed soap and frequently used mashed banana. It looks wonderful (her soap), but I haven't tried banana.

My first banana soap is here. They lightened up lots over time, to a light tan. Speckles stayed.

I also use blended overripe bananas, also considered as water replacement.

It's nice soap :)

Have you ever followed (or watched on YouTube) Valerie Mosher? She makes hot processed soap and is a delight to watch. I know she makes a mashed banana soap.

Yes! Shalebrook Handcrafted Soaps.. I like watching her too. Watched her a little too close in my early days too hehe

Banana soaps are one of my favorites, unless they use one of those super-artificial smelling FOs. Then it just smells like.. yellow. I have yet to try using bananas in my soaps, but I do think it might make for a nice sniff. Your soap looks great!

Sounds like one of the cooler days here lol
I knew you would say that! And you probably don't have air con ( not like those lucky Americans who pretty much ALL have it centrally ducted in their homes) either.

@Carly B - I've just sampled a piece from that batch and WOW - super creamy thick lather already (after just two days)!
