I have looked at a few vids of this and I "get it" I think. Here's a question though:

Wouldn't you be able to do this if you poured layers instead of with separators? Of course you would not get the swirl on top, but the mid-soap swirl should be do-able running the wire up and down rather than side to side?

You might not get the definition since the swoopy part of mantra in normally made by pushing the hanger against the side. I think you'd get the "swoopy" part on the bottom only, but I haven't tried it so that's just conjecture. Maybe your top would swoosh if you'e forceful? Show that swirl who's the boss?

I think the only problem you might have is the thickness of the batter you'd need to pour each layer to avoid the colors from breaking through the layer below. Then you'd need to move quickly using the hangar to swirl but it would be doable. You'd also have to make sure you used a very slow moving FO/EO. I think you should give it a go and see how it works out!

I'm just sort of making "air soap" today, since I'm stuck working. :)

I'm in that boat too! Just as well, since my friends are saturated with free soap at this point, and I've only made one of three "specialty" soaps that I intend to do before I get back to regular...

I finished up and made the salt soap. Very very ugly. Should cure nice.

Tomorrow I should have a few micas here. I don;t know if I'm ready to try this but I will certainly give it a go sooner or later.

You're ready, Lee. Once you have micas in front of you and you can see them on your fingers and all, you'll be aching to make some colored swirly soap.

So far, layering soap then using a hangar has been the only way I've made that technique successfully. I've been wanting to try the other way again since I now know you have to cut the soap horizontally to show the beauty. My fist try that way half and half. Not the look I wanted.
