Somewhere on one of these threads recently I was reading about Mango Butter - but I can't find it now : (

Anyway, I'm thinking i might try it at 10% in a recipe just for the hell of it ( I can hear you say -" don't waste such an expensive oil in a wash off product" - but consider me a rebel).

I just wondered if anyone else has used it and if it speeds trace? Any other tidbits of info that you could share?

TIA.

I have a triple butter soap with cocoa, shea and mango butters higher than what people usually recommend so I'm right there with you on rebelling lol

It didn't trace faster than my other soaps with only cocoa and shea though, but it's not something I take much notice off since trace doesn't matter so much to me.

Just remember to maybe soap warmer? Mango butter is higher on stearic than cocoa and a lil more than shea. I can't find the link but I've read a post where the OP got false trace and stearic spots.

I did a triple butter HP also. Mine isn't that old but I did try the scraps and I found it didn't lather as much as I like but, it is very moisturizing.
I used cocoa and mango in the recipe and shea as my superfat after the cook.

I use mango butter in my whipped body butter and I think because of the cost I prefer it that way, instead of in soap.

Give it time. Mine didn't have great lather til after 3.5mos.. It's mentioned several times that high butter soaps need a longer than normal cure :)

I've used it and I don't remember any problems. I also don't remember what else was in the recipe, or if I felt like it made any real difference in soap. I'll look if I have time later and see if I can find anything in my files - if I remember o_O.

I've used it several times @ 30% along with 70% coconut oil. Out of all my experimental batches of high coconut oil/high superfat soap, it turned out to be my favorite. I soap it warm and have no issues.

I'm used to the stearic issue - using soy wax. I was thinking of using my standard recipe but switching out the 10% Shea I usually use for Mango Butter. I might not even me noticeable since they have a similar fatty acid profile.
But another one to consider might be Avocado Butter? It's way higher in palmitic which is something I always have very little of in my recipes.
