Well I am in the mood to make beer soap I purchased the Oatmeal stout from Brambleberry and I am keen to get this into some soap :0)
My question is this.............Do you recommend boiling the beer before leaving to go flat? I have done some reading and it seems some boil some dont........I am off to open a steinlager now..........going to steal a nip for a shandy and leave the best part of it sitting in a jug till I decide wether to boil or not

I gently boil it to boil off the alcohol which could make the soap seize. Then it goes in the fridge til it's very cold. I add the lye slowly to the pitcher of beer in the sink, in case it overflows.

Thanks Soapbuddy I appreciate the help........I will boil it off tonight and make the soap tomorrow :0) not sure if I am keen on this Oatmeal Stout fragrance to me it has a real 'Nutty' smell to it but will hold judgement untill it has cured in the soap. Have you tried this one yet? I would be very happy to send you a sniffy of it. Postal services are now shut down till tuesday but happy to post off to you after that if your interested. I am keen to order the pumpkin one next :0)

Remove the carbanation. As soapbuddy said boiling and cooling the beer helps. If you do neither you will get a lye volcano.

I kind of do the same as Bubbly Buddha. I put the beer in a jar, leave it in the frig for several days and occasionally shake it while I'm getting something out of the frig.

I haven't made beer soap for awhile. I'd like to try the boil method.

Good luck with that Lyn. I still haven't got around to making beer soap but I've been saving a bottle of stout for just this purpose.

I boil it down to about 1/4 of its original volume. I mix my lye with water. Then I add the beer "syrup" just after I mix the lye solution and oils. Seems to smell less funky that way during cure and immediately thereafter. I love beer soap!

Well the soap is done and in the fridge although I wonder if I will still get a partial gel with the beer sugars that were used. Thanks for all the replies it was fun and my kitchen smells oaty sweet at the moment :0) so going to play with this. No fancies just plain soap no colours or swirls was to anxious about a volcanic eruption in my sink :0) but none of those!!!!!!
Well thats balls and beer now back to doing a few replacements as I have two markets to get ready for in Feb and only a week left to get my remakes done :0)

Yipee! If you think the soap will heat up, can you put it in the freezer?

Chocka block with food as I only have a fridge freezer and used my tripple mold as it comes apart where as my current single molds dont come apart and I can have a dickens of a job getting logs out sometimes............Have a new single woodfields on the way as we speak :0) YAY if I get partial gel the next one will be in the freezer for a bit for sure!!!!!

The fridge is probably sufficient. :)
