Making custom silicone molds

I would like to make some custom silicone molds for some of my soap projects. I am lucky that my local library has a Maker Lab where I can make castings for the molds but I will have to pour and cure the silicone on my own. If you have made your own molds before, do you have any tips or tricks for me?

Do not use foam insulation. It'll get stuck in the mold and will not come out. Don't ask how I know

@Vicki C has made silicone molds, so you could try searching for her posts. If she sees this, she might be able to give you some tips.

I forgot to mention the castings would be made with TPU on a 3d printer.
