lump of coal soap

Im thinking of making a "lump of coal" soap for Christmas season. Any suggestions of scent? Anise/orange?
I thought if I used my usual mold and just cut it on angles and take the peeler to the edges I could make it look jagged enough. Not to sure how Id get them close to the same size though, unless I sell them by weight.
Who's done it?
Ill use activated charcoal and marble it a bit I think.
Or if I rebatch some and just shape it by hand?

Use activated charcoal for the black color, forget about the veins. I like an even mix of anise and lavender, but anise and orange sounds nice too.

I recently made salt bars with cedar, fennel (a softer, sweeter anise) and patch, colored with charcoal... looks like gray granite. For a true black, I add a little black oxide.

I wish I could offer better suggestions, but I can only shout out blind ideas: a spicy/woody scent may work or a spiced orange. I'm assuming you prefer EOs and my crazy behind started thinking of pine. I wouldn't suggest that EO though, but I can imagine something woody.

If you looking for scents, I would blend with vetiver, which smells smoky to me.
