I'd love to do that, put a logo impression on my soaps. I'm not sure how to go about it.

I just watched a couple Youtube videos on how to make them (personal stamps). It looks pretty easy but I'm sure the "pros" can do a much better job.

That is funny because it was in my sidebar and looked like it was one of "today's" posts. I didn't search for it. It got my attention because I had just watched the videos on Youtube -- I searched on Youtube so it took my search phrase and brought it up.

YES AND YES. PUT A LOGO ON YOUR SOAP. WHY not that make is look so pretty and official etsy has tons of people. they even hava a soap arbor . which is nice too.

Obsidian, what kind of stamp did you make? The videos I watched showed a few different ways and materials. Some used a 2 part epoxy, but this one kid used plain old silicone caulk -- the kind you use to caulk doors and windows. It turned out really good but I wondered how long it took to dry. It's more flexible than the 2 part epoxy too. The cheap little decorative stamps I purchased are silicone, flexible and flat. I rub them on the top of the soap and peel them off -- more closely resembling a rubber stamp.

I like the solid and the soft for different applications. The soft mold can be used as a flexible soap mold. The various videos show several different ways. One way was to use a bucket of water and squirt the silicone caulk in it. The other way was to mix with vegetable oil and corn starch, making a soft pliable mold. There was a video on making your own plastic -- very cool -- no chemicals just a few household ingredients; corn starch and glycerin. A lot of great ideas.

So glad you dug this thread out of the grave. It's a cool idea. Thanks :)

I know this is an old thread, I hope the mods will not be too miffed if I add to it. I really like the idea of impressing/stamping logos, and spent a bunch of time looking at it about a year ago. The best DIY I saw was one by Ballyhoo soaps, unfortunately that link is now dead. It is referenced by this one, though, which includes pics, maybe enough to put things together. One of the cool things about the Ballyhoo one was that s/he used soap for the "impression plate" (not sure what it is really called), she printed out the logo, put it on top of a piece of soap, carved out the image, made a little open topped box to encase it w/duct tape, then poured the two part resin on top. Here's the link referencing it, it is from Joanna Schmidt's blog (the owner of MadOils.)

Also, for those of you who are interested in rubber stamps for fabric/paper/clay stamping, this site seems kind of awesome, it is a non-profit that employs people who are mentally/physically challenged and it is great b/c you get to cram as many designs as you can onto a sheet and then cut them out and mount as wish, great value, I would think. Plus a good cause. I have not used them yet, but will some day.

ETA: I don't know who Joanna ended up going w/with her stamp, but I love her little quirky logo, and it looks great stamped on the muslin goodie bags she sends out w/her orders. She really does have the best packaging out there, I am never excited to open a box *b/c* of the way it is packaged except for hers, she just makes it fun.

Auntie Clara did a nice tutorial on making a custom logo stamp ... search for her name on Google. She does awesome photography and her pics illustrate the process so nicely. Worth a look.
