Liquid soap - Does it really take a day and a half?

Been looking at this recipe for making liquid soap and it takes forever and a day.

Is this the best way there is to "do it right" or is there a better way?
What is the difference between this way and grating a bar of soap and leaving it in water overnight and then add a preservative?

The link I provided did use a crock pot but you are saying that there is a different way of using the crock pot for liquid soap?

Can you please link to a tutorial of some sort? I would love to make liquid soap and shampoo for my family. With some yucca root for my balding hubby....

yep really does take a long time.

This is where I got my recipe and directions. I wouldn't make it in a crock pot, but that's just me. Because a crock pot isn't very deep.

But I do this, and it turns out awesome !!!!

Thank you guys. I may do this for a one-time project but I doubt I will be doing this on a regular basis. Too much work!
