Is there a way to make a foaming facial cleansed other than just using a soap base? The company Farmaesthetics has an herbal cleanser that is great. The ingredients are witch hazel, glycerin, acylglutamate (a delicate cleansing agent derived ofrom sugar cane & coconut)geranium and lavender essential oils. I would like to try somethig like this....any ideas or suggestions?

Try using one of the soap foamer containers and see if you can get it to foam like that. When using them for liquid soap you have to have a lot of water in the product to get it thin enough to work in those foamers...

The cleanser by Farmaesthetics doesn't come in a former bottle, but makes a nice lather then you wash your face with it.

Just did a search on acylglutamate and it is a surfactant. To reproduce this product do some research on different surfactants available to you and decide which one you like the best. I don't use surfactants so I can't even begin to make a suggestion, but perhaps someone else will come by with some advice and/or suggestions.

Aren't surfactants harsh on the skin? Maybe I am confused with something else. I did a couple of internet searches and found a couple of things to try. I don't have anything against making liquid soap, but I tried it once and it didn't turn out so good. Maybe i did something wrong, but I thought it was harder than making cp soap. If someone knows of a gentle liquid facial soap recipe they would be willing to share and explain to me, I would appreciate it. Maybe I just need a little more help with making liquid soaps.

Not all surfactants are created equal - some are gentler than others.

As with any soap whether it's CP, Cream or Liquid, your oils are going to determine the properties of the finished soap. There are some great books out there on how to make liquid soaps and the one by Failor gets into how each oil affects the clarity of the finished soap.

Make small batches and have some fun experimenting. It is how you will learn the most.....

Cheers

I think I am going to make my life really simple and just go with a premade base. I found a really nice one for castille soap on organic-creations.com and I can add some essential oils to it and be on my way. I think it should make a nice facial cleanser. :)

I was planning on using lavender EO. Do you know if this one can do that? Thanks for the heads up.

Depending which Lavender you use, it might thicken it. If I use Lavender 40/42 my base gets thicker. I would make a small batch and see.

I was going to use the hungarian lavender that i got from rocky mountain oils. I guess I just thought I would make things easier by doing it this way.
