I tried making the following recipe for a honey lip creme and even though the directions said it would work, I am having trouble.

40 g sweet almond oil
15 g cocoa butter
5 g coconut oil
10 g lanolin
25 g beeswax
5 g shea butter
1.5 g honey

The directions say to heat up all but the honey until there are no signs of cloudiness, then stir in your honey. Because of the lanolin it is supposed to act as an emulsifier with the honey. Well, mine ends up with the little beads of what I guess is honey at the bottom of my melting container and i cannot get it to incorporate. Should I use an emersion blender? If I reheat it, will I burn the honey and how do I know if i do burn the honey? Does it smell or turn dark.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
It'll be tricky to get the honey to stay in - lanolin isn't a great emulsifier so you do want high sheer. but cleaning off your immersion blender will not be fun at all and you'll lose a lot, I'm afraid.

You can reheat it, I believe. But frankly I'd skip the honey altogether.
 
Thanks Carebear for your reply. Do you think I could salvage this batch by spooning off the top just down to the bottom where the honey has settled? I could then reheat that and pour it into tubes. That way all that would be wasted would be the little bit on the bottom that contained the honey.
 
I believe that would work perfectly.

Some do say that with enough stirring they CAN get the honey to stay in. But I've received bunches that had honey ooze out or settle out so I'm not buying it for long term.
